PGCS exists due to the good will of those who work within it. It's a great supportive team of people to be part of. There are three main ways of joining us:


As a Qualified Counsellor


As a Trainee Counsellor, doing their final placement hours


As an Office Volunteer

Information for trainee counsellors

Each year we have a limited number of clinical placements for counsellors in the final stage of their training before qualifying. We can offer you the opportunity to work with a fantastic team of committed professionals in an excellent environment. You will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of adults and issues. Competition is strong for places, but don't let that put you off applying. We have many years experience of working with trainee counsellors and you will find the support we offer is second to none.

Important 'Ethos' statement

We feel it's really important that you end up in the right place for your placement. There are many different 'styles' of agency and PGCS is quite different from many. Our Person-Centred approach means that in quite a few respects we look at things differently than a good deal of current 'mainstream' thinking. We are a small not for profit company that started life as a project run within a bigger charity. Our work can only happen with the help of volunteers on the administration team as well as our counsellors.
